The nail-biting extended matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51M watchers in the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB reported this is the highest-rated Fall Classic finale after the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game drew over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series drew 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete US average reached 16.1M. The total World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1M in the Canadian market.
